Bundoran Hotelier Brian McEniff has been in charge of a number of Tyrone players during a very successful reign as Ulster manager and while he acknowledged that there have been a number of quality footballers from the Red Hand county over the years he had no hesitation in naming his top four of all time.

“Tyrone have produced numerous outstanding footballers over the years but if I had to name my top four they would be Peter Canavan, Frank McGuigan, Eugene McKenna and Sean Cavanagh and that is in no particular order.

Peter Canavan was a brilliant player and I had him on the Railway Cup team when he was only eighteen. I remember one championship summer when I was picking the man of the match award for TV he won something like four or five televisions!

Frank McGuigan was another player whose talent was obvious from an early age and while he took what I suppose you could call a career break when going to America he was still one of the best players that I have ever seen.

Eugene McKenna was not only a great player but he was a great leader of a team as well and he was as good a player as Tyrone have ever produced. From the current crop of players Sean Cavanagh is the one who stands out for me and can play at midfield or full forward and if he is on his game they will be difficult to beat this year.”
