Mickey Harte’s decision to make three changes in the side to face Dublin is evidence of two key things: his willingness to pick the team to do a job as shown by the inclusion of Owen Mulligan in the full forward line and Justin Mc Mahon in the defence, and secondly the strength in depth of the present panel. When you see names like Dooher, Mc Guigan, Mc Ginley, Carlin, Harte etc all established county players with huge experience listed and available not to mention O’Neill and Mc Menamin you get a feel for the depth and quality of this squad.

Now that he has picked his team, the manager will no doubt turn his mind to dealing with the threat of the Dublin attack and in particular Bernard Brogan. Tactics in this game will play a huge role and the debate of “to sweep or not to sweep, that is the question” will surely raise its head. Whatever decision the management comes to regarding this will prove very important and will have a considerable bearing on the outcome of the game.
