On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November a series of special anniversary reunion events will take place at Christian Brothers’ Grammar School, Omagh.

On Friday 24th November, a special afternoon event will take place to mark 10 years since 12 students and 6 teachers went to South America as part of the Christian Brothers’ Immersion Project. The main focus of this visit was to spend time in Cochabamba, Bolivia and “immerse” themselves in the lives of the people they met. The boys who visited Cochabamba were hugely affected by the visit, witnessing life at its most basic. They visited orphanages, rehabilitation centres for children with special physical needs, schools in deprived areas of the city and most poignantly they went out and helped the Brothers disperse food to children living on the streets.  To mark ten years a number of these past pupils will return to the school to talk to all Year 13 and 14 students about that experience and how it has impacted upon their lives since then. Brother Juan Casey now based in Rome will also visit the school to reminisce on his memories of the visit.

On Saturday 25th November, a very unique event will take place at Killyclogher GAA pitch.  The victorious CBS 2005 MacRory Cup team will take on our 2007 Hogan Cup Champions. Featuring a variety of current senior Tyrone footballers this is a game not to be missed! Throw in is at 3pm sharp and parking is available at the grounds.  In addition, this event will provide a brilliant opportunity for the current Year 8 students to share the field with their GAA heroes. As part of the ongoing Year 8 Super-league events, the league final will be played between the two remaining Year 8 teams during half-time! This is a wonderful opportunity for these young players and is sure to plant the seeds of future MacRory, Hogan and indeed Sam Maguire players! Tickets aren’t required for the game, however, donations will be taken at the gates for the Centro Hermanos Manolo in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

The game will be followed by a celebratory three course meal in the Assembly Hall of Omagh CBS at 5.30pm. This event is open to all members of the wider community. Tickets are available at £12.50 each from the school office. To book your tickets call 028 82243567.
