Omagh CBS went into the Corn na nOg final against St.Pats Cavan as underdogs but they didn’t read the script as they produced a superb performance to run out deserving 2-11 to 1-9 winners at Emyvale.

The opening quarter saw the sides share four points with Killian Brady and Conor Owens getting a brace each for their respective sides. It was close and competitive but as the interval approached Omagh stepped on the gas. Eoin McElholm and Nathan Farry had points either side of Caolan Donnelly blasting the ball to the roof of the net to leave it 1-5 to 0-3 at the interval.

Three Darragh Lovett points closed the gap on the restart and it took a good save from Omagh CBS keeper Conor McAnenly to keep his side in front. Owens and Charlie Donnelly helped edge the winners three in front again but moments later the sides were level when Cormac Galligan palmed the ball to the net.

Oliver McCrystal and Daithi McCallan exchanged points before the former put Cavan in front in the 54th minute. That proved to be their last score however as Owens fired over a brilliant equaliser before McElholm put Omagh back in front. McCallan then got the winners’ second goal with Owens tagging on a late point as they emerged worthy winners to clinch the silverware.
