Omagh CBS 5-13 Abbey CBS 0-10
A good season for Omagh CBS continued at Michael Coney Park in Ardboe on Friday afternoon when they proved too strong for Abbey CBS in the Oisin McGrath Final.
It was a third successive Ulster schools title for this group of players and they certainly deserved this latest success after taking time to settle. An early Peter Garrity point was all that both sides had to show for their efforts in the opening twenty minutes as Abbey CBS got numbers behind the ball to keep the favourites at bay. In the last eight minutes of the half the winners hit 2-5 without reply to take control of proceedings, Eoghan Donnelly and Cormac Darcy the goal scorers with Diarmuid Martin and Peter Colton among the points, Odhran Reel the sole Abbey marksman as the scoreboard read 2-6 to 0-1 at the interval.
Reel and Oisin Byrne had the opening two points of the second half but then Omagh CBS took full control. Garrity blasted in a brilliant goal with Martin, Colton and wing back Charlie Meenan adding points. Reel took his personal haul to 0-8, all from frees, but it was all about Omagh as Garrity scored another brace of goals to leave his side emphatic winners in the end.
Omagh CBS scorers: Peter Garrity 3-2, Diarmuid Martin 0-5, Eoghan Donnelly 1-1, Peter Colton 0-3, Cormac Darcy 1-0, Charlie Meenan 0-1, Cathal Cunningham 0-1
Abbey CBS scorers: Odhran Reel 0-8 (8F), Oisin Byrne 0-2
