Armagh 4-20 Tyrone 1-13
Armagh defeated Tyrone at Ballymacnab on Saturday in the opening round of the All-Ireland series. The Orchard girls dominated from the off and by half time had established an eighteen point lead with Leanne Donnelly, Sinead Quinn, Niamh Forker (2) and Tiarna Maxwell (2) among the points.Quinn also fired home two goals as the home side put the game to bed before the break.
Roisin O’Neill McKee and Lára Devlin landed points for the Red Hands but it was clear at this stage that damage limitation was the order of the day as Armagh went in at the break in total control leading 2-15 to 0-3.
The second half saw Armagh continue to dominate although Tyrone came more into the game. After a flurry of points Tiarna Maxwell hit the net as Ciara Geoghegan and Grainne McDonald exchanged pointed efforts.
Lauren Fitzgerald bagged Tyrone’s only goal of the contest followed by further scores from Lara Devlin and Una Mc Cann before Quinn claimed her third goal of the day. Forker and Devlin swapped points while Tyrone finished the game with three unanswered points from McErlean.
Final score: Armagh 4-20  Tyrone 1-13
