Following their Championship final defeat last weekend, Sperrin Óg Seniors will be hoping to go one step further after a convincing win over Trillick at home to reach the League final.
Sperrin Óg controlled the game from the start building a seven point lead before Trillick got off the mark on the 15th minute.

There was little between the sides for the next seven minutes with the home side retaining a six point lead, 0-9 to 0-3, when Niamh O’Neill received a yellow card which could have let Trillick back into the game.

As it turned out, the Sperrin Óg team upped their game when down to 14 players adding an unanswered 1-3 to their tally before the half-time whistle blew.

HALF-TIME SCORE: Sperrin Óg 1-12 Trillick 0-3

Trillick struggled to make ground in the second half with strong performances in the Greencastle defence from Eimear Teague, Maggie Gallagher and Aisling Fox, while penetrating runs from Laura Heagney added to the threat from the Sperrin Óg attack.

A Ciara Fox goal in 41st minute left Trillick trailing by 16 points, 2-14 to 0-4, and although the Reds responded quickly with a goal, the outcome of the game never looked in doubt.

With 10 minutes remaining Sperrin Óg were 21 points in front but Trillick refused to give up and continued to pressurise the Sperrin Óg defence until the final whistle. Sperrrin Og can now look forward to a final meeting with Clan na Gael.

FULL-TIME SCORE: Sperrin Óg 4-17 Trillick 1-6

Shauneen Ferrity 2-3, Ciara Fox 1-3, Briege Beggs 0-4, Emma Clarke 0-3, Louise McDermott 1-0, Niamh O’Neill 0-2, Bronagh Warnock 0-2
