The Ryan Tierney Memorial tournament on Saturday served up some super football in memory of the much missed Clogher Eire Og’s player, writes Damien Donnelly.
Ryan’s parents, Ann and Pat, plus family members came along to watch the U-18 event and to make the presentations following earlier rounds at Fr Hackett Park in Augher and St Patrick’s Park in Clogher, with the final stages taking place at St Patrick’s.
Dromore edged past Eglish St Patrick’s after extra time in the memorial cup decider, with Newbridge from Derry shading Truagh of Monaghan in the Shield final that also required extra time. Our picture features Ann Tierney presenting the Ryan Memorial Cup to Matthew McCaffrey, captain of Dromore St Dympna’s.
Loughmacrory St Theresa’s, Scotstown and Gael Naomh Padraig took part too; they all gave excellent accounts of themselves on a really enjoyable, sun blessed day.
Watch out for a photo during the week regarding a new kit presentation for Gael Naomh Padraig, a combination of Clogher Eire Og’s and Augher St Macartan’s in minor and youth categories.
