Despite the fact that it was their second championship game in five days Omagh still proved too strong for Greencastle at Killyclogher on Sunday afternoon. The St.Patricks started well with Mark Carson and Cahir McCullagh both converting frees in the opening three minutes but that was as good as it got for them.

A superb Conor O’Donnell brace had the sides level and by the end of the opening quarter Omagh were 0-4 to 0-2 in front thanks to efforts from Joe McMahon and Ronan O’Neill. Christopher Gillen split the posts for Greencastle but back came Omagh with Barry Tierney, O’Donnell and O’Neill all on target. Sean Fox got a much needed score for Greencastle but that was quickly cancelled out by Conor Meyler while the St.Patricks had keeper Colly Tuohey to thank for a superb save to deny O’Neill. Omagh led 0-9 to 0-4 at the break with Greencastle being dealt a blow in first half injury time when they lost McCullagh to a black card.

Ciaran McLaughlin and Carson exchanged points on the restart before Omagh Captain McMahon stroked over a “45”. Omagh were always in control with Conan Grugan weighing in with a couple of points and Tierney, O’Donnell and substitute Jason McAnulla on target as well. Tierney bagged the only goal of the game as it finished 1-16 to 0-7.
