The third round of Ryan Cup games took place on Wednesday and once again there were plenty of players from Tyrone in action for Ulster’s three top University sides. UUJ picked up their first win of the competition when they defeated local rivals Queens who had already made it through to the quarter finals prior to the game. Niall McKenna lined out for Queens and featured among the points but Jordanstown triumphed 0-12 to 0-10 with the help of Ciaran Donnelly [0-4], Peter Hughes [0-1], Mattie Donnelly [0-1] and keeper Greg Kelly.

St.Marys missed out on a quarter final spot when they lost 2-12 to 2-11 against DCU in Dublin. Paddy Tally’s side included Tim Harney, Gavin Teague, Mark McKenna, Sean O’Neill, Kevin Mossey, Mickey Slane, John Gilmore and Peter Harte with the latter two scoring an impressive 1-4 each.
