Tyrone players were to the fore as a fancied UUJ side were given a major scare in their opening Sigerson Cup game against Limerick University on Tuesday afternoon. Adrian McGuckin’s side edged the verdict 1-10 to 1-9 in Ratoath with Gortin’s Diarmuid McNulty top scoring with 1-2, Eskra’s Peter Hughes contributing four points and Mattie Donnelly getting a point as well. The starting fifteen also included Cookstown’s Ryan Pickering and Errigal Ciaran’s Ciaran McGinley with Dromore’s Ronan McNabb and Ardboe’s Shea McGuigan both coming off the bench.
