Tyrone won the last ever Ulster minor league title when they edged past Derry at Maghera on Saturday afternoon on a 1-9 to 0-9 score line. James Morgan and Mark McGrogan traded early points before Feargal Mortimer and Richie Mullan put Derry two in front. Red Hands Captain Peter Og McCartan then got in for a well taken goal but it was Derry who finished the half on top with scores from Ben McCarron and Mullan helping then lead 0-7 to 1-2 at the interval.

PT Cunningham and Oran Mallon soon had the sides level on the restart before centre half back Cahir Goodwin put Tyrone in front. Tyrone were more attack minded in the second half and while Derry drew level again a well taken Darragh Canavan score gave Tyrone a lead that they were never to lose. PT Cunningham and Mallon added to their advantage as they got a morale boosting win ahead of their championship opener against the same opposition in five weeks time.
