U14 League Wrap Up

The U14 league continued at the weekend with action in all four grades. In grade 1A Moortown picked up their first win of the campaign when they turned on the style in the second half to beat Clonoe. The St.Malachys only lead by the minimum margin but in the second half they pulled away with Daniel Quinn [1-4], Sean Conway [2-2], Ronan Conlon [1-3], Shane McKeown [1-3], James Devlin [0-5], Jack McGuigan [1- and Conan McLarnon [0-2] their scorers. Galbally played host to Coalisland in the same group in a meeting between two unbeaten sides with the Pearses making home advantage count to come out on top. Cormac O’Hagan, Gerard Woods and Peter Herron were among the scorers for the Fianna but Galbally’s ability to get goals proved crucial with Adam Arthurs, Callum Kelly, Patrick Quinn, Daniel Kerr and Liam Rafferty all finding the net. The final game in that group saw Ardboe record a 2-11 to 1-7 victory away to Dungannon. Gary Donnelly and Callum McGuigan got the goals for the young Rossas with John Teague and Jordan Bell both playing well for them. Lorcan Mallon scored the Clarkes’ goal with Connor McKee and James Loughran among the points with Patrick Molloy, Gary Molloy and Joe Sally all playing well.

Only two games took place in 1B as the referee failed to show for the Killyclogher “A” v Eglish encounter. Carrickmore played host to Errigal Ciaran with the St.Colmcilles winning 7-15 to 6-6. Dromore remain unbeaten after getting the better of Omagh “A” on a 7-6 to 3-5 score line. Caolan Gillespie scored two of the St.Endas’ goals with Nathan Conway also finding the net while there were points from Thomas Clarke, Tiernan Bradley and Diarmuid O’Doherty. Ryan Mc Cusker bagged a hat trick for the winners, Rhys McCaffrey scored two while Peter Teague and Cahir McGovern also grabbed majors as well. There were good performances in defence for the St.Dympnas from Callum Ward and Eamon Quinn.

In grade 2A Naomh Mhuire won away to Gael Naomh Padraig while Donaghmore got the better of Derrylaughan on home soil. Caolan Mulgrew hit three goals for the St.Patricks, Eoin Kavanagh hit 2-3, Sean McCaul contributed 1-3 with Dylan McKay and Ryan Cush also finding the net for Donaghmore. It was a good all round performance from Donaghmore with Conor Hasson, Hayden McGurk, Brannon Molloy, Eoghan McLoughlin and Odhran McCluskey all playing well.  In grade 2B Newtownstewart won away to Beragh for whom Callum Corrigan, Tiarnan Mc Crystal, Eoin Grimes, Ben Mc Sorley, Aarron Owens, Oisin Donnelly and Jack Campbell while Greencastle scored a dozen goals at home to Loughmacrory. Owen Roes played host to Fintona and they recorded a good victory with Michael Dooher [3-3], Cathal Kelly [3], Aaron McGonigle [3], Ryan McAleer [2], Kevin Cairns [2] and Sean Kelly their scorers with Jack McGeehan, Ryan Devine, Timothy O’Doherty, Conal McCormack and Philip Haughey all playing well.

In grade 3A Aghaloo and Kildress were involved in a fourteen goal thriller with the former coming out with just two points to spare. Jimmy Cuddy [3-1], Oisin Gildernew [2-1], Daniel McCrudden [1-1], Niall McElroy [1-1], Jody McGlone [3] and Owen McMullan got the scores for the winners. In the same section Moy beat Rock while Drumragh had a walkover after Stewartstown didn’t field. Padraig Ward top scored for Rock with 3-4 with Shea Litter scoring two goals while Cormac O’Neill and Liam Nugent both played well too. The main men for Moy were Ryan Coleman with 2-3, man of the match Francie Kelly 2-2 and Philip Mallon whose personal tally was 3-4. In group 3B Aghyaran, Castlederg and Glenelly recorded wins over Tattyreagh, Gortin and Strabane respectively. Glenelly are still unbeaten as goals from Darren Sherrin and Conal Herron enabled them to lead 2-3 to 0-2 at halftime despite playing against the wind. Glenelly dominated the second half with further goals from Herron and Sheerin and three from Eamonn McConnell and one from Seamus Bradley. Cahir McCullagh, Kevin McBride and Dylan McManus all supplied points with Fergus O’Neill, Dara O’Hagan and Michael McMullan all playing well in defence. Ruairi O’Neill got Gortin’s goal with Sean Og McAleer and Paddy McCullagh supplying points. Caolan O’Neill was outstanding at full back, Shane O’Neill was good in nets, Oisin McNulty played well at centre half back as did Paddy McCullagh in midfield. Castlederg were very good up front with Darren Traynor and Shane Carlin scoring some great points and Jerome Devenny bagging two goals. James Clarke played well in goals for the young St.Eugenes, Niall McHugh, Conor McHugh and Dylan McSorley were solid in defence while Brandon Lynch and Daire Keyes worked hard in midfield.

In grade 4A Killeeshil had a good win away to Omagh “B” while Eskra won a high scoring encounter at Naomh Padraig. Nathan Moore, Aidan Gavin and Conn McDonald were among the scores for the hosts with Aaron Convery, Moore and Shea Devlin all playing well for them. Michael Woods and Brendan O’Hagan got goals for the Emmetts with Conor Early outstanding in defence and Cathal Arkinson influential in midfield as they came from six points down at halftime to win. In grade 4B Trillick won away to Urney while Drumquin also won on their travels at Killyclogher “B”. Cormac Rodgers [1-3], Conor McHugh [1-1], Paul Brannigan [2-1], Joseph Gormley [1-1] and Louis Anthony [0-2] all scored for Drumquin with Shane Skelton playing well in their defence. The Killyclogher lads battled gamely with scores on the day coming from PT Cunningham 1-1, Stephen Mc Crory 1-0 and Paul Kelly with a good point from a free kick. Jack Mc Namee in goals, Odhran Potter, Matthew Murnaghan and Jake Gilmurray all played well for the Cappagh outfit.Gavin Elliot, Darryl Maxwell and Daniel Doherty were the Urney goal scorers  against a Trillick side who had good performances from Diarmuid McCaughey in goals, Jamie Kelly at full back, Ryan Kelly in midfield and Matt Colin up front, the latter scoring two goals with defender Paul Farry also finding the net.
