St.Patricks Academy are through to the Rannafast Cup Final against St.Pats Armagh after they produced an impressive display to beat St.Pats Cavan in Castleblayney on Tuesday afternoon. It was a game that the Tyrone school dominated from start to finish and that was reflected on the final scoreboard, 4-10 to 1-5.
Liam McGeary sent them on their way with the opening goal and that was followed by a brilliant second one from Joel Kerr before Davin McKeown rounded off the first half by also finding the net. Lorcan McMurray, Aodhan Quinn and Kerr tagged on points with Ultan O’Reilly, Tagdh Shiels and Charlie Fallon on target for Cavan to leave it 3-4 to 0-3 at the break.
Any hope that Cavan had of mounting a comeback ended in the third quarter as the Academy hit five unanswered points through McMurray, Kerr (2), Darragh Devlin and McKeown. A converted penalty from Fallon proved to be only a consolation goal for Cavan as Dungannon closed the game out with a fourth major from Aaron Convie.
