INAUGURAL TEAM CIAN 10K ROAD RACE/ 5K FUN RUN/ WALK

Team Cian in conjunction with Dungannon Thomas Clarke Gaelic Football Club have announced details of the inaugural Team Cian 10K ROAD RACE/ 5K FUN RUN/ WALK around Dungannon which takes place on Sunday 27 February.  The event was launched by Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council Mayor Michelle O’ Neill and Adrian Logan, well known sports broadcaster who is a former club captain with Dungannon Clarkes   Also at the launch were local athlete Donal Gallagher along with Cian’s parents Jarlath and Rachael and Niamh Quinn from NI Hospice.

Cian Corrigan was a young Dungannon schoolboy who showed promise as a GAA footballer but lost his battle against a rare and aggressive form of cancer on 8th May 2009 just 6 weeks short of his 12th birthday. Team Cian is the parents and friends of Cian who got together to raise funds for the N. Ireland Children’s Hospice who cared for Cian at times during his illness. That fundraising has seen many different events including a Charity Ball in 2010. This 10k Road Race and 5k Fun Run/ Walk is the latest event with all proceeds going to the NI Children’s Hospice.

The event takes place on Sunday the 27 February 2011 beginning with Registration at O’Neill Park Dungannon with the 5k Fun Run/ Walk( Entry fee £5) setting off at 11.00 and the 10k Road Race ( Entry fee £10)  at12.00 midday.
