Clonoe Claim Under 15 Title

Clonoe secured the Under 15 Grade 2 league title defeating Moy with a strong second half performance.
Moy were forced to field without star forward Liam McGeary due to illness. Despite this they got off to the best possible start as Matas Rumsevicius fielded high and smashed the ball to the net with two minutes played.
Michael Donnelly who was outstanding from centre back combined with Eoin Mansell as they shared four points between them to put Clonoe in front by the mid point of the half as they dominated possession.
Moy made a few tactical changes which saw Diarmuid Quinn moved across to shackle Eoin Mansell who had been extremely dangerous. The influence of Cormac Brown was also increasing. It was Moy who had the best of the second quarter. Eoin McGlone scored a lovely point before Rumsevicius fired home his second goal while Eoin McGlone converted a free to put Moy ahead by four.
A much needed TJ O’Neill free reduced the deficit but Diarmuid Quinn had the final say of the first half leaving his defensive duties to split the posts.
Half Time Moy 2-3 Clonoe 0-5.
A quick start from Clonoe almost produced an early goal but the attempt clipped the outside of the post. A confident strike from TJ O’Neill and a Daire Devlin point cut the Moy lead to two. A Harry Harvey free on thirty nine minutes being Moy’s only response. Clonoe increased the pressure as Donnelly, Hughes and O’Neill drove them forward.
Another goal chance was passed up before minutes later Paudi Kerr fired home for Clonoe to tie the game and set up an exciting final ten minutes.
An excellent run and point from Daire Devlin edged Clonoe in front before Devlin scored his side’s second goal with fifty nine minutes played.
Moy were really missing the threat of McGeary up front, but with time nearly up McGlone forced a great goal line save from Eunan Shields.
Unfortunately for Moy that was to be their final chance and Clonoe held on for a deserved victory following an entertaining tussle.
