Children’s First Aid Workshop
Throughout the summer, EmergencyCareNI are delivering Children’s First Aid Workshops throughout N Ireland and in Strabane the course took place on Friday 31st July in the local library.
The Course content included:
- How to assist a choking baby/child/adult.
- When to call 999 and the reason for doing this.
- How to put a person into the safe airway position.
- CPR on a child friendly Flat Stan Manikins!
- How to deal with nose bleeds scrapes and bruises.
Training was delivered in a fun and practical way whilst keeping a serious focus on the first aid principles being taught. Children were taught an assortment of not just first aid skills but home safety too.
Sigersons Youth Officer Jason Foley commented “The course provided the children with some of the skills necessary if an accident happened to enable them to be confident enough to be able to act in an effective way and deal with any emergency situation”.
Thanks are extended to Sigersons Neighbourhood Renewal Project in partnership with Melmount East Bank Estates Community Associations Forum for providing funding for the children to attend the course.
Several of Sigersons Youth Members were in attendance with Fintan, Jamie, Jack & Josh pictured enjoying the workshop.
