Donaghmore Lift Ladies Intermediate Title
Saturday 08.09.2012

Donaghmore gained some revenge over Sperrin Og following a narrow one point win over the Greencastle girls this afternoon in the Intermediate Championship final. Historically there has been very little between these sides and so it proved again today as the Donaghmore girls edged it 2-06 to 0-11.
The winners were first to score and were 1-02 to a point up after twenty minutes following a goal and a point from Aisling Conlon and good defensive work throughout. Sperrin Og were struggling for scores with their solitary point coming from the boot of Niamh O’Neill.
An early second half goal from Cara Christie put Donaghmore in a strong position but Sperrin Og showed considerable spirit to fight their way back into the game with points from Niamh O’Neill and Shauneen Ferrity reducing the gap to a single point eight minutes into the second half. Sarah Potter levelled the game as the excitement rose and the Sperrin Og defence were working overtime to reduce the effectiveness of the Donaghmore attack.
Rebecca Mc Crory then sent over two points to ease Donaghmore ahead before scores from Shauneen Ferrity and Niamh O’Neill drew the teams level again. Just when it appeared the game was going to end in a draw up popped Emma Rice with the winning score and Donaghmore lifted the title on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-11.
