Eglish 2-10 Dromore 1-8

Eglish are grade one minor league champions after a five point success over a spirited Dromore side at Pearse Park in Galbally on Sunday afternoon.

It was a game that was close throughout with the winners getting their second goal in the 59th minute to make sure of victory. Ryan Donnelly and Ronan Bradley had early points for Eglish before Padraig Dillon and Fearghal McGurren replied for Dromore. Eglish moved two clear again with points from Bradley and Sheehan Fay before wing half back Jack Law found the net for the St.Dympnas. Lorcan Hegarty and Dillon traded points before Cormac Toye got an Eglish goal to leave them leading 1-5 to 1-4 at the break.

Donnelly and Dillon exchanged points on the restart as did Nathan Horsfield and John Edgar to leave the minimum still between the sides with less than ten minutes left to play. Crucially Eglish got the next two points via Bradley and Horsfield and while Dillon responded from a mark a second goal from Toye in the closing stages won the day for Eglish in a contest that saw both sides reduced to fourteen men late on.
