Errigal Ciaran’s hopes of claiming the Paul Mc Girr Under 16 Ulster Title went badly off the rails when they lost out to a well drilled Dromintee side in the final on a score line of 3-6 to 0-5 on Saturday afternoon at Gardrum Park Dromore.

The Tyrone side began tentatively and although the Armagh champions themselves also began slowly they got to the pace of the game more quickly than their opponents and led 2-3 to no score at the break. Fionn Toal opened the scoring after eight minutes as his team began to get a grip on the game. Further scores from the impressive Jarlath O’Neill and a goal apiece from Diarmaid O’Rourke and Odhran Carnegie helped send the teams off at the break with Dromintee in total control leading 2-3 to no score.

Errigal came more into the game after the break but their profligacy in front of the posts cost them dearly. Both teams scored five times in the second half with Shea Mc Dermott (3), Michéal Mullin and Charlie Maguire landing points for the Tyrone champions. Unfortunately for them their opponents matched them score for score before rounding off the game with their third goal of the game in injury time from player of the tournament Diarmaid O’Rourke.

Final score Errigal Ciaran 0-5, Dromintee 3-6
