Hurlers Record Victory in Fingal
Sunday 22.02.2015
Tyrone senior hurling team recorded their first victory of the season in Dublin this afternoon when they overcome Fingal by a single point. The win keeps the Red Hands in the hunt for promotion. It was the home side that got off to the fast start leading 0-3 to no score before Damian Casey got on the scoreboard for the visitors. Casey hit Tyrone’s first four scores but by the quarter hour mark Tyrone still trailed 0-6 to 0-4.
Points from Matthew Mulgrew and Tiernan Morgan sandwiched a Gerard Gilmore goal. Further points from Mulgrew and Casey were cancelled out by Fingal who pulled 1-12 to 1-9 ahead. Tyrone were then reduced to 14 men as Shea McKiver was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.
Points from Mulgrew and three more Casey points, including a monster free, had Tyrone level in the dying seconds at 1-15 apiece before Conor Grogan fired over a point late on to earn the win. Final Score – Fingal 1-15 Tyrone 1-16
