Derrylaughan 2-11 Gortin 0-11
Derrylaughan booked their place in the last four of the Connollys of Moy Tyrone Intermediate Football Championship following victory over Gortin in Healy Park on Sunday evening.
The Lough shore men opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a Tomas Carney point and a minute later James Donnelly doubled that advantage. By the 9th minute the lead was three as Ciaran Gervin swung one over the bar. Gortin had to wait until the 10th minute to record their first score and a fine one it was as Fiachra McNulty launched one over from distance.
A James Donnelly free and a point from play from the same player eased the Derrylaughan advantage out to four by the 21st minute, 0-5 to 0-1. Gortin fought back with a Sean Og McAleer free, a point from Odhran Brolly and another from Brian McGarvey ahead of a Derrylaughan goal. Colm O’Hagan reaching out to push the ball to the Gortin net in the 31st minute. The final score of the opening half fell to Brian McGarvey who kicked a point in the 32nd minute. Half time score – Derrylaughan 1-5 Gortin 0-5.
Both side shared the first four points of the second period as Brian McGarvey and Peter Keenan added scores for Gortin and James Donnelly and Stephen McGrath hit points for the Kevin Barry’s.
The three point Derrylaughan advantage moved out to four with a Tomas Carney free in the 45th minute ahead of the second goal of the game. Brian Kennedy thundering in from the right wing and hammering the ball high into the Gortin net. From there to the final whistle both sides hot three points apiece. Man of the match James Donnelly, Tomas Carney and substitute Cathal Canavan registering points for Derrylaughan while Sean Og McAleer hit a couple of frees and Liam Of Mossey converted from the dead ball for Gortin.
