Begley’s Sports ACL Division 1
Dungannon 2-9 Killyclogher 2-10

Two games and two wins inside three days for Killyclogher who brushed aside the notion that you need time to recover from ACL games in Tyrone.  The St Mary’s men blasted into an early lead hitting the home side for two goals and four points inside 24 minutes at the Eoghan Ruadh venue on Thursday evening.  Once again the hurling pitch played host to a big crowd for this Begley’s Sports Division 1 match.

An early free from Marc Flanagan was followed up by a Conal McCann point in the 5th minute.  Two Paul Donaghy points brought the sides level within three minutes but Killyclogher were to restore their advantage in the 9th minute when Mark Hayes hit the Dungannon net for the visitors.  Odhran Toal and Paul Donaghy swapped points in the 15th and 18th minute and Donaghy again was on hand to add another Clarkes point in the 23rd.   A minute later Killyclogher hit their second major with Michael Rafferty finishing off a fine move involving McCann and Hayes.

To their credit Dungannon responded almost immediately as Paudi McNulty was brought down for a penalty and Paul Donaghy hammered home the spot kick.  Points from Cowan, Donaghy and McCann completed the first half scoring.  Dungannon 1-6 Killyclogher 2-4.

The third quarter produced some excellent football with Paul Donaghy and Conal McCann hitting a brace of points apiece with Tiernan McCann and Odhran Toal also chipping in with points from play.

Trailing by some four points with ten minutes to go the Clarke needed a goal and that’s exactly what they got as Patrick Quinn fisted to the net following an excellent pass from Dalaigh Jones.  For a long time it looked like a Patrick McKearney point in the 53rd minute might well have been enough to earn Dungannon a draw but Darragh Hayes had other ideas as he fisted over the winning point in the 60th minute.
