Edendork V Coalisland

Edendork got the better of neighbours Coalisland in what was both teams first match of the league. Only two points separated the teams at half time in favour of the Coalisland girls. HT score 3.8 3.10

Edendork started the second half off strongly with goals from Maeve Maxwell and Laura Kelly. The Fianna girls keep battling away with points and kept the game tight with just a kick of the ball between the sides at the final whistle.

Drumquin and Tattyreagh served up a high scoring entertaining game before the Tattyreagh girls emerged victorious on a score line of 3-22 to 1-13. Drumquin scorers on the night were Sara Louise Mc Laughlin 1-10, Jolene Mc Menamin 0-2 and Sarah Mc Cusker 0-1.

Omagh recorded a comfortable victory over Dromore whose only source of scores was Emma Smyth.

Aghaloo senior ladies got their league campaign off to a flying start tonight. They faced a fancied Beragh side but the girls battled throughout and came away deserving winners.
The first half was a real battle, with Beragh on top at times but the Aghaloo girls stood up and worked hard defensively. Solid performances from Anna McGinn at the back and excellent work rate from Dervla O’Donnell and Gemma McVeigh. Up front the girls chipped away at the scores. Erin McGinn racked up 1-2, Gemma McVeigh 0-1, Aine Sherry 0-2, Dervla O’Donnell 0-1.
Beragh scored a penalty late into the first half and went in leading at half time.
Half time score Aghaloo 1-5 Beragh 2-7.
The second half proved to be another battle. Beragh kept in front for the most part and with 15 minutes to go Beragh led 4-10 to 3-9 but the Aghaloo side refused to give up with some excellent passages of play and determination. Paris Douglas and Marie McKenna fought for every ball at the back and once again Erin McGinn hit the net not only one but three times along with a further five points from Aine Sherry. Further scores from Katie McGinn and Riona Gildernew saw Aghaloo over the line with a score line 4-12 to 4-10.

 

Castlederg and Stewartstown produced a high scoring and high quality encounter when they met at the weekend. The Derg were very much on top in the first half but benefitted when Stewartstown got a penalty but missed and sent it wide. Derg also got a penalty and Laura Mc Sorley converted it confidently. Amelia Coyle was in real goal scoring form and hit the net four times in the first half and three in the 2nd half to make it seven goals for her on the night. The Derg led at the break 6-6 to 1-2 and finished up 9-11 to 3-5 winners.

Loughmacrory made the long run to Dunamanagh but came away with a 3-10 to 3-5 win. This was a real team effort but Amy Anya in the half back line deserves special mention for her performance. Scorers for the lough on the night were:

Galbally senior ladies recorded their first victory in the Junior League against Naomh Eoghan. The first half was laced with good passages of play from both sides and great scores from Rachel Kelly, Caitriona Quinn and Michelle McGuigan. Emer Condon, Katie Hackett worked tirelessly in defence with some great saves from Grace Mc Veigh in goals. The half time score was Galbally 2.05 Naomh Eoghan 0.3.
The second half saw Naomh Eoghan come out full of fight but Galbally girls kept up the battle with some fine displays once again from Michelle McGuigan and Laura Kane in defence. The subs going on had a big impact on the 2nd half with two great goals from Rachel Kelly to secure the Pearses first win of the season.
Final score: Galbally 4.05,  Naomh Eoghan 2.07.
Rock are back competing in the Junior league having been unable to field a team in 2023 due to injuries and players travelling.
Standout performers from the game against Urney were Emma Bradley and Annie Bloomer in attack and Catherine O’Neill and Brenda Mc Kenna in defence.

Moortown were pushed all the way by Fintona but prevailed in spite of a close second half. The Mals led at the break 1-7 to 0-2 but the second half was a much closer affair which saw Moortown win 2-11 to 2-5.
