Loughmacrory 2-7

Owen Roes 1-9

Loughmacrory will face Eglish in the division one promotion /relegation play-off next weekend after they turned in a superb second half display to eventually edge to a one point win over Owen Roes at Killyclogher.

A tetchy affair that hung in the balance until the very end, with three late red cards, all second yellows that included Owen Roes talisman scorer Cathal Mc Shane and Tyrone new boy, Loughmacrory captain Conall Grimes. The north Tyrone side also had Seamus Dooher  sent to the line as tempers frayed in a tense closing spell.

Mc Shane hit 1-7 of his side’s tally despite having been well marked but he always looked capable to cracking a score. Tony Devine, Brendan Boggs and Ryan Mc Aleer worked  tirelessly for. Array Tracey’s team but credit to Loughmacrory they dug deep in that second half when it was needed most. Cathal Donaghy was hugely impressive up front while Shane Dobbs, Joseph Kelly and Conall Grimes were outstanding throughout.

Owen Roes led by six points at the break. They got off to the perfect start too when Mc Shane crashed home a goal within ten seconds of the first whistle. Tony Devine collected from the throw in and went route one before teeing up Mc Shane.

Mc Shane added 0-3 and Dooher also found the range before Lough got on the scoresheet some 15 minutes in through Cathaoir Gallagher. “Roes” were in control and attacked with gusto. They created several openings but tagged on just one more point as Pearse Grimes hit a late point for the Lough.

Loughmacrory got off to a flying second half. Cathal Donaghy crashed home a goal within two minutes. Niall Donaghy added a point and by the tenth minute the Lough’s newly found belief was rewarded when Cathal Donaghy scored a second goal to nudge his side ahead for the first time.

As Gallagher saw his third goal ruled out it was Owen Roes who went ahead again by two with ten minutes to go as Mc Shane and Conor O’Neill hit points. Diarmaid Gallagher’s fine point kept the Lough in touch after they missed four very scorable chances.

Cathaoir Gallgher and Ciaran Ward lashed over Lough points and deep into injury time as things were stretched at both ends Ward stepped up again and drilled over the winning point from out wide on the right. Loughmacrory by one as the second yellows were issued to three players.
