It certainly was a busy few days of football and it would be remiss of me not to mention the wonderful achievement of St. Macartan’s Ladies team from The Clogher Valley who defeated Carrickmore in this year’s senior final.
Carrickmore had led by seven points at one stage but The Macs girls refused to be beaten and scored two goals and four points without reply. Gerard Mc Quaid was a proud and happy man on the night and was delighted with his team’s courage and tenacity.
Several of these girls must now turn their attentions to Tyrone’s game against Kerry in the semi final of The All Ireland this weekend and will no doubt be boosted by this great win. Fingers crossed they will carry their club form into the county game and ensure Tyrone qualify for The All Ireland senior final.
Congratulations also to Omagh, Fintona and Dromore who all lifted titles in Ladies football over the past week. These successes will hopefully strengthen the clubs and inspire them to continue the hard work that is presently going on within the county.
