Tyrone county champions St Macartans hosted Cavan top guns Crosserlough on Sunday in the Ulster Club competition expecting a stern examination of their credentials.

Ryan Mc Menamin’s side began like they wanted to put this one to bed as soon as possible and that is exactly what they did as they blitzed their opponents with a performance of quality and intensity. Early goals from Chloe Mc Caffrey and Cathy Donnelly along with points from Paula Donnelly, Mc Caffrey and  Slaine Mc Carroll had Macs in total control from early in the contest.

Crosserlough struggled for scores but eventually broke their duck twenty minutes in with a score from Ciara Finnegan. Macartans continued to play with great pace and added a further 1-2 to their tally before the break with their third goal coming from Paula Donnelly. Their opponents managed to add a second point when Lauren Mc Veety converted a close in free just before the break to leave the half time score 3-6 to 0-2.

Macartans maintained their dominance in play after the break with points from Tara Meabh Mc Carroll and Paula Donnelly before team captain Niamh Mc Girr hit her team’s fourth goal. The Tyrone champions added a fifth goal just before the final whistle as the game finished 5-12 to 0-3.

Next up for Macs is a clash with Donegal champions Termon at a Donegal venue on the 19th of October.
