Drumquin hit the ground running on Friday night with a comprehensive win over Glenelly that saw Oisin Gormley (7) and Sean Mc Donagh (1-3) leading the line superbly for the winners. The Tones led by ten at the break 0-11 to 0-1 and although Glenelly improved after the break with Lorcan Mc Cullagh (4) converting a number of frees the result was never in doubt. Final score Drumquin 1-15 Glenelly 0-6.
Derrytresk made the long run to Urney on Friday night and with Niall Gavin (8) in fine scoring form came away with the points on a final score of 0-15 to 1-9. Odhran Hughes (3) and Cathal O’Neill (2) shared five points between them while PJ Quinn and Keenan Donaghy chipped in with a point apiece for the winners. Ryan Henry (1-5) was once more the top scorer for Urney and two points apiece from Liam Langan and Danny Doherty completed the scoring on the night.
Brocagh claimed bragging rights on Friday night with a 1-12 to 0-7 win over Killyman in their derby clash. The Emmetts led 1-7 to 0-3 at the break with Cathal Donnelly hitting five first half points. Mark Canavan hit the net for the winners while Micky Hughes and Niall Mc Closkey both bagged a brace of points. Conan Mc Donald and James Mc Kiver were also on target for the winners. Killyman will be disappointed with the number of wides they kicked over the course of the hour. Their scores came from Enda Mc Gahan with 0-5 and a point each from Sean Donnelly and Cathal Mc Aliskey.
Killeeshil showed just why they are one of the most highly rated teams in Junior Football as they saw off the challenge of Tattyreagh on a score line of 7-18 to 0-6. The winners were all but out of sight at the break leading 3-6 to 0-2 but they kept the foot on the gas after the break and recorded their biggest win of the season. The goals came from Cathal Rafferty (2-2), Michael Carty (1-2), Cormac Donaghy (1-1), Luke Donnelly (1-1) , Gary Reilly (1-0) and Eoin Neil (1-0). Packie Mc Mullan, Michael O’Neill, Ryan Doyle, and Darragh Neill accounted for the remainder of the points on the night when midfielder Paul O’Neill was the most outstanding player on view.
Strabane recovered from being three points down at the break to record a 3-8 to 1-8 win over Augher at Sigerson Park on Friday night. The visitors led at the break 1-5 to 1-2 with Darragh Kavanagh hitting 1-3 of his team’s first half total. Unfortunately for Kavanagh and his team mates they were unable to maintain their first half form as a much improved home side outscored them after the break 2-6 to 0-3 to claim the win. Strabane goalkeeper Tom Mc Dermott produced a man of the match display with several superb one on one saves and a penalty stop late in the game as well. The Strabane goals came courtesy of Kelvin Nelson (1-1), Kyle Morrison (1-0) and Gavin Molloy (1-1). Scoring machine Oran Mc Grath hit 0-4 while Haydn Mc Namee (0-1) and Daniel Mc Hagney (0-1) completed the scoring for Strabane. The remaining augher points came from Eoghan Keenan, Tiernan Mc Elroy and Martin Mc Elhatton.
Aghaloo continued their winning run with a very impressive 6-11 to 2-11 win over rivals Eskra. Ruairi Mc Glone found the net four times to help his team to a very impressive win. The red and blacks led at the break 4-6 to 1-8 with Niall Mc Elroy getting his team’s fourth goal on the stroke of half time to add to a first half Mc Glone hat trick. Mc Glone finished with 4-0 while Niall Mc Elroy hit 2-6 with Jody Mc Glone (2), Jamie O’Hara, Tiernan Donnelly and Niall Henderson each adding a point to their team’s tally. On a disappointing evening for the Emmett’s Cormac Arkinson and Tommy Meegan both hit the net with their points coming from Cathal Meegan (5), Tommy Meegan (1), Joe Mc Carroll (3), Eoin Mc Caffrey and Cathal Arkinson.
