National University Success For Tyrone Handballers.

The Ulster University Jordanstown handball team that won the PICHA team event in Croke Park were all from the local area – Darragh Daly, Padraig Mc Glinchey, Michael Donnelly ( Carrickmore ) and Brian Donaghy ( Loughmacrory).
This was an historic third consecutive year winning the Irish Universities title for UUJ.
In the quarter final the Jordanstown lads defeated DCU and in the semi were victorious over another Dublin team, DIT.
The final saw them once again face their great rivals from Galway NUIG and many believed that this was NUIG’s year for glory but the Ulster men had other plans and in a nail biting final ended up winning by 9 points.
The four team members are all eligible to play in the 2011 tournament and will be hoping to surpass the previous record.
For Pauric and Darragh this was an eventful week as they were also members of the Carrickmore team who earlier in the week had won the Ulster Club Championship.
