Monday 03.09.2012

Strabane Sigersons 7-7
Moy Tír na nÓg 3-2
Strabane Sigersons Under 14 Boy’s defeated Moy to lift the Tyrone Grade 3 League title with an emphatic win at Greencastle.
Sigersons opened the scoring in the game with a fine point via Eoin Arbuckle but Moy replied hitting two points in a row but these proved to be their last scores of the first half as Strabane took control of the contest.
Paddy McGlinchey drew the side’s level with a well taken point from play and moments later the Moy goalkeeper made a great save from the boot of Adamh Bonnar. Nathan McGrath then hit the first of his four goals when he fisted an Eoin Arbuckle pass to the roof of the Moy net. Tom McDermott increased the Strabane lead with a point from play and this was quickly followed up by a speculative goal from the boot of team captain Conor McGettigan.
As the first half drew to a close, Strabane added a point from the boot of Paddy McGlinchey and Conor McGettigan hit his second goal of the game. Moy were denied a goal just on the stroke of half-time when Sigersons keeper Ryan Kelly pulled off a fantastic save.
Half-time score: Strabane 3-4, Moy 0-2
The second half started in whirlwind fashion for Moy when straight from the throw-in they rattled the Strabane net with a well taken goal and almost immediately they struck for a second goal which rattled Strabane and gave the Moy lads a great boost.
Sigersons then had to defend gallantly for a few minutes with Aodhán Bonnar, Tyrone Kelly, Tiarnán Doherty, Rory Gormley and Tiarnán McKnight all playing their part in stemming the Moy onslaught.
Strabane then took total control of the game with Tom McDermott, Conor McGettigan and Eoin Arbuckle leading the way. Nathan McGrath struck for his second goal of the game. Adamh Bonnar then sent over a point from a free kick with Tom McDermott doing likewise and Eoin Arbuckle scoring a point from play.
Nathan McGrath sealed a perfect night for himself personally and for the team when he rattled in a further brace of goals to bring his tally for the night to four.
Tom McDermott finished the scoring for Strabane with a well taken goal to seal a well deserved win and although Moy did hit a late consolation goal the night belonged to Sigersons as they added the League title to the Féile na nÓg Grade 2 crown picked up earlier this season and will be hoping to make it a hat trick of wins when they meet Trillick in the Championship decider on Saturday afternoon at Castlederg.
This was a well deserved win for Sigersons with each and every player fully deserving of high praise for their effort not alone in this encounter but over the course of the season.
