The senior Camogie stars of St Patrick’s Grammar school showed they are made of stern stuff as they recovered from being 2-4 to 0-6 behind at half time against St Mary’s Magherafelt to take the Fr Davis Cup 0-12 to 2-5.

The Convent side looked the part in the first half and were good value for their lead at the break. The Academy girls did well to hold them to a single score in the second half as they chipped away at the lead with Lara Devlin hitting 0-10 of her team’s tally.

The second thirty minutes saw the Dungannon girls at their best with Olivia Mc Guinness, Grace Daly, Beth Jones, Olibhia Farley, Bronagh. Moohan and Catherine Moohan outstanding for their team. It was a score from Catherine Moohan with five minutes to go that tied the game and gave the Academy hope as the game drew to a close.

The winning point came from the stick of Lara Devlin with a converted free as the Academy moved into the lead with time almost up. The final whistle sounded two minutes later and the Dungannon celebrations showed exactly what the win meant to all involved.

Final score : 0-12 to 2-5 in favour of St. Patrick’s Academy Dungannon.
