Two Semi Finals Fixed One Played

I had been really looking forward to the championship semi finals last weekend and was somewhat
surprised and disappointed to find that the Omagh versus Carrickmore game on Sunday had been
postponed on account of Omagh’s appeal to The DRA. The decision by the St. Endas club to seek this
hearing following the suspensions handed down after their semi final victory over Ardboe received
a mixed reception from people I spoke to in Dungannon. Many of those I was talking with were very
critical and accused the club of pursuing their case as a cover for affording a couple of key players
another week to recover from injuries they sustained recently.

Personally speaking I have no problem with a club deciding to attempt to overturn what they
perceive to be an injustice. There were very few people within the county who criticised such
decisions when the county team sought to have unfair suspensions handed out to the county players
overturned. At the end of day it has meant delaying the game by a week and with all the added
publicity and column inches generated hopefully it will result in a bumper crowd and a great game.
