U20s See Off Roscommon In All Ireland Semi Final
Saturday 11.05.2024

Tyrone 3-18 Roscommon 3-8
Tyrone are through to their second All Ireland U20 Final in three years thanks to a ten point success over Roscommon at Breffni Park on Saturday evening.
The Red Hands recovered from conceding an early goal to lead 2-8 to 1-5 at the break. They looked to be in control but two goals in as many minutes at the start of the second half rocked them. Only the minimum separated the sides at that stage but crucially Roscommon failed to get on level terms as Tyrone turned on the afterburners to outscore their opponents 1-8 to 0-2 in the remaining twenty four minutes to emerge emphatic winners.
Shane McGinley blasted in a brilliant early goal to give Roscommon the perfect start but Tyrone’s response was outstanding. Ronan Cassidy, Odhran Brolly, Ruairi McCullagh, Ronan Fox and Eoin McElholm all hit points before midfielder Conor O’Neill found the net. Tyrone had their tails up and they struck for a superb team goal from attacking half back Shea O’Hare.
Four minutes into the second half Roscommon midfielder Conor Ryan scored a goal and when Bobby Nugent also found the net two minutes later it was very much game on, 2-10 to 3-6. Questions were being asked of Tyrone but they came up with all the answers. Keeper Conor McAneny converted a 45 as well as a long range free with Cormac Devlin and Cassidy also on target.
A well taken McElholm goal gave Tyrone the breathing space that they needed with substitutes Noah Grimes and Conor Owens also contributing points on a day when the winners had eleven different scorers.
