Will Thursday Be Newcomers’ Night?

Tyrone travel to Celtic Park on Thursday night for their opening Dr Mc Kenna Cup fixture with Derry providing the opposition. The winners on the night are guaranteed to go to the top of the section following Saturday’s draw between the other two sides in the group Fermanagh and UUJ.
Team manager Mickey Harte of course will be minus quite a few familiar faces due to the involvement of a number of Tyrone men with the various university sides. In such circumstances the manager may have to include several of the recently added “new” members of the panel.
Those who have recently joined the senior setup include Darragh Canavan and Mattie Murnaghan both of whom have recently won the Teamtalkmag Young Player of The Year award. The former All Ireland U17 winners have been joined by the returning Conan Grugan, Kyle Coney and Darren Mc Curry while Benny Gallen, Ryan Gray, Brian Kennedy and Liam Rafferty complete the list.
