Charity Floodlit Game @ Strabane Sigersons

All roads will lead to Páirc Mhic Sioghair (Sigerson Park) Strabane tomorrow night (Friday) 29th January @ 8.00pm as the 2015 All Ireland winning Tyrone Master’s side takes on a local North Tyrone “oldies” select managed by Sigersons clubman Liam Sweeney.

The event has been organised in order to raise funds for a local Gael who has suffered an illness and it’s been brilliant to see how local clubs in this area despite their parish loyalties and great rivalries can rally around whenever there’s a crisis.

Who could have imagined players from Strabane, Owen Roes, Urney, Aghyaran, Castlederg, Dregish, Glenelly, Newtownstewart and Clann na nGael, all lining out in the same team? I’m not sure yet what jerseys the North Tyrone select will wear, maybe then that’s when the first fall out will arise (only joking)! Sweeney’s squad are taking this game seriously with a few training sessions having already taken place.

A host of players have been confirmed for the North Tyrone select which includes; Ciarán McLaughlin, Anthony McMenamin, Brendan Cairns, Sean Dudgeon, Brendan McLaughlin, Alex Curry & Aidan Coyle (Strabane), Eugene Langan & Collie Elliott (Urney), Niall Conway, Conor McAleer, Damien Devine & Stephen O’Neill (Clann na nGael), Declan Bradley, Paul Philips & Gerard Porter (Owen Roes), Anthony Devine and Gary McHugh (Aghyaran), Declan, Shane and Pascal McConnell (Newtownstewart), Eamon Friel, Damien Leonard & Brian McCallion (Castlederg) Ciarán Kearney, Joe McCullagh and Owen McCloskey (Glenelly) with a few others yet to be announced.

The Tyrone Master’s squad will also include several players from the North Tyrone area that helped them to success over Galway in last seasons All Ireland final but players from as far away as the Lough Shore are also expected to participate under the management duo of Eugene Bradley and Joe Leonard.

The referee for the contest will be top whistler Eamon McHugh (Aghyaran) who will be accompanied on the line by Sean MacIntyre (Strabane) and Hugo Devine (Owen Roes).

Come along and show your support for what should be a great night’s craic with food and entertainment including a “Night at the Races” laid on afterwards in Sigersons Social Club. This is a great cause being organised under the banner of “North Tyrone Together” and great credit is due to all of those who have played any part in putting this event in place, well done to all.
