The biggest shock of the opening day came in Carrickmore as Eglish went away with a fully deserved five point victory.  Sean McKillion got the only goal of the game for Eglish in the opening thirty minutes.  County man Ryan McKenna was also on the scoreboard alongside regular point scoerer Gregory Jordan.  Kevin McNally, Coalan Daly and Martin Penrose were among the Carrickmore scorers on a disappointing afternoon for new manager Brian Gormley.  Final Score – Carrickmore 0-8 Eglish 1-11

Omagh are off to a quick start in 2013 recording a 2-7 to 0-9 result over promoted Cookstown.  They were particularly efficient in front of the posts with Jason McAnulla bagging a goal for St Enda’s in either half.  Ronan O’Neill was also on fire recording 0-3 and setting up the second goal for Omagh.  Cookstown struggled to get on terms with Omagh and they found themselves 1-3 to 0-1 down after ten minutes.  Owen Mulligan, Conor O’Hare and James McGahan each scored a brace of points for the Fr Rock’s but they paid the price for Omagh’s efficiency in front of goal.  Final Score – Omagh 2-7 Cookstown 0-9

Errigal Ciaran also got off to a winning start with a home win over Donaghmore in Dunmoyle.  Tommy Canavan was in tremendous scoring form this afternoon firing over 0-8 of his sides 0-12.  Shane Mulgrew and Niall McKenna both contributed to the Donaghmore scoreline.  Final Score – Errigal Ciaran 0-12 Donaghmore 0-8

Ulster Senior League champions Ardboe put in a great second half fightback to overcome newly promoted Augher away from home.  Augher led 0-8 to 0-4 at the break with, recently transferred from Clogher, Daire Cavanagh among the scorers.  Shea McGuigan and Brian McGuigan got a couple of points during that time for Ardboe.  After the break John McConville slotted home a penalty and a late Ronan Campbell goal sealed the four point victory for the Rossas.   Final Score – Augher 0-11 Ardboe 2-9

Sean Cavanagh was the star of the show in Moy this afternoon firing 1-3 in the opening quarter to leave Derrylaughan in deep trouble before the break. Scores from Karl McQuade and a huge Eunan Deeney point from long range added to their tally.  Derrylaughan did strike back in the second half through Liam Gervin and Shea Coney but Moy held on for an opening day victory.  Final Score – Moy 1-11 Derrylaughan 0-8

League runners up in 2012 Coalisland Fianna are back doing what they do best.  They picked up the two points this afternoon at Fr Peter Campbell Park with a three point win over Trillick. Paddy McNeice struck 0-4 for Fianna who also had Eoin Carberry to thank for a goal.  Richard Donnelly top scored on the day for Trillick with 0-5 while Daire Gallagher scored 0-2 for the visitors.  Final Score – Coalisland 1-11 Trillick 0-11

It was a battle of attrition in Greencastle with the home side narrowly overcoming Killyclogher by a single point.  Scores were very hard to come by in the opening half. Killyclogher went into the break 0-3 to 0-2 ahead.  Leo Meenan and Simon O’Neill were on the scoreboard for Killyclogher.  Enda Clarke and John McCullagh contributed to the Greencastle cause while Cahir McCullagh popped up with the winning point near the end.  Final Score – Greencastle 0-9 Killyclogher 0-8

The evening game between Dromore and Clonoe was a close run affair which was only decided by a very late free from the boot of Eoin Mc Cusker. With the teams level at 0-10 apiece the Dromore forward converted a very difficult free to ensure the two points remained at Gardrum Park.
Dromore opened strongly with Mc Cusker and Ruairi Sludden getting five first half points between them. Stevie Mc Nulty was on target for the visitors as they reached the break trailing 0-6 to 0-3. Clonoe’s county man Conor Mc Aliskey found his shooting boots in the second half while Ronan Mc Nabb, Colm Mc Cullagh and Niall Sludden were all on target for Dromore.
It looked as if the game was destined to end in a draw before Mc Cusker stepped up to convert the late free and give his side victory on a score line of 0-11 to 0-10.
