A well drilled Newtownstewart side deservedly booked their place in the last four of the LCC Junior championship when they overcame an ill-disciplined Castlederg team who finished the game with twelve men.

Castlederg started the game on fire and by the end of the opening quarter they had established a 0-6 to 0-1 lead thanks to points from Steafan Gallen, Sean Harper, Bradley Devine and Marr Corry. The rest of the half though belonged to the winners with Kevin Gallagher getting a goal and Ryan Mayse and full back Piaras McSorley among the points. Newtownstewart led 1-6 to 0-6 at the break despite finishing the half with fourteen men.

Castlederg midfielder Sean Meehan opened the second half scoring but then the winners upped the tempo. Niall Mayse, Gallagher and Ryan Mayse all had points with Castlederg keeper Chris Catterson denying the latter twice with outstanding saves. At the other end of the field Newtownstewart keeper Declan Devine made a great stop as well. Castlederg had three players sent off as their discipline went as Newtownstewart ran out 1-12 to 0-7 winners.
