Helen Clarke, a life long volunteer and member of An Caislean Glas GAA club, has seen her commitment to her club rewarded when she recently picked up the LGFA Club Committee Officer of the Year award. For the past almost thirty years Helen has been a key driver in An Caislean Glas agus Sperrin Og fulfilling various roles on the committee structures as well as being an active coach. A vital part of the first ladies club in the parish Helen was part of the original group that formed Sperrin Og in 1991 and has played for Sperrin Og up until the early 2000’s.
As well as representing the club Helen is also a dedicated coach and club committee member giving back to her community at every opportunity. Since the early 2000’s, even after becoming a mother, Helen maintained her drive and passion for Gaelic Games and Sperrin Og still playing a huge role within the new amalgamated An Caislean Glas agus Sperrin Og club as the treasurer, County Board Rep, gateperson at all senior men’s and ladies games as well as coaching and helping across ladies football, mens’ football, handball and camogie within the club. Helen has always been an invaluable part of the GAA family and deserved fully to have her dedication recognised.
